HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! I hope you guys are enjoying the show! I thought I'd bust something with a little bit of edge on the Pick of the Day today - hence Dynamite Hack.

Love the remake - love the blackbird at the end of the song - pretty much just felt like the right song to play today: It's Boyz in Da Hood by Dynamite hack! if you've never heard it, here's a link to check it:

Trev's Pick of the day (Goo Goo Dolls)

Posted: Thursday, Oct 30, 2008

...Is that Bon Jovi? Nop... it's the Goo Goo Dolls...

Now.... I know what you're thinking, but STOP - because it's going to be ok! haha

The Goo Goo Dolls have that reputation for slow songs that kinda drag on, and people get really turned off. In fact, there's only one song that i like by them - but i like it a LOT.

Long Way Down, which had only a minute of fame, it seems, but lasted much longer than that in my own CD library, is off their breakthrough album "A Boy Named Goo" - which was overshadowed by the song...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Homegrown)

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008

Today's pick of the day is Home Grown, a rock band out of Orange County. I discovered them on a local show in Santa Barbara (which i supose is close enough to OC to be considered local), and loved them from the start. The song is "Surfer Girl", and though there are several different versions, live cuts, and a few studio versions, I'm going to play my favorite today - a very casual studio version.

Surfer girl - just the basic idea of it was so incredibly cool to me - being in Junior High and learning to surf, and then...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Goldfinger)

Posted: Tuesday, Oct 28, 2008

Do you remember back when we didn't have CD players? Don't get me wrong - I know I'm young, and that many of you were puttin' the needle to the groove for many years before I even learned to feed myself.

That being said, I remember being in the 4th grade, and waiting anxiously for my favorite songs to come on the radio. I also remember having to listen to all of this on my older sisters' hand-me-down pink cassette player/fm radio walkman... which of course, I tried to mask with black electrical tape - causing a sticky discharge to spread...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Seu Jorge)

Posted: Monday, Oct 27, 2008

Today's pick might be a stretch, but hey - isn't that what radio's really about, showing people new music and exploring new horizons?

If you're a fan of Wes Anderson movies, speicifically The Life Aquatic, you may already be familiar with this artist. Seu Jorge is a Brazilian musician, singer/songwriter, and actor, and is considered by his fans to be a "renewer of Brazilian pop Samba". He is renouned for his work in the film "City of God", and of course, "The Life Aquatic".

In The Life Aquatic, he plays Pele Dos Santos, the ships soundtrack composer. Throughout the film, he is...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Dr. Dog)

Posted: Thursday, Oct 23, 2008

Today's pick is possibly one of the first songs that I am playing as a "POTD" that I found AFTER I started working for X1FM. Up until this point, all the music has been things I have grown up with, or remember from back in the day.

As most of you know - my faithful GSG's (Gun Show Groupies) - every day I get to share new music with you in the form of a new-music Cagematch. A while back, I had the pleasure of finding Dr. Dog - a highly catchy group with extremely familiar grooves and melodies. I would...

Trev's Pick of the Day (The Vandals)

Posted: Wednesday, Oct 22, 2008

I don't know what more I can say that hasn't already been said about these guys. The Vandals, one of the most influencial punk bands in the world, as well as one of the most entertaining. The song I chose was "Urban Struggle", which many people mistakenly call - the cowboy song.

I can only imaging what it must have been like to see these guys live, but I will say that they certainly spun it up a few hundred times in the good ol' Sony Discman back in the day.

It's always fun to relive part of my musical history, and...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Everclear)

Posted: Tuesday, Oct 21, 2008

The band is Everclear - and for once, it's not a sad song about his dad... it's a rockin' tune...

Off of the album Sparkle and Fade - (Which is famous for "Santa Monica"), I'm bringing you guys a song called, "You Make me Feel Like a Whore", and though it was never granted too much air time on terrestrial radio, personally it was one of my favorite songs off the album.

The entire album is very interesting, and each song brings something different to enjoy! Here's a link to the song if you missed it:

Trev's Pick of the Day (Led Zeppelin)

Posted: Monday, Oct 20, 2008

What more can I say, than that Led Zeppelin is probably my favorite band of all time. I have no compliants when it comes to their music, but TODAY - I will play you my favorite of all their songs. It's ok, by the way, you don't have to hold your breath, it's NOT Stairway.

The song is called "The Traveling Riverside Blues", and features one of my favorite tools Led Zeppelin uses: The electric slide guitar. The song was originally written and recorded by legendary bluesman Robert Johnson.

My favorite part about this song is what they say about squeezin' the...

Trev's Pick of the Day (Wyclef Jean)

Posted: Friday, Oct 17, 2008

It's friday - and I feel like havin' a cool jam. The band is Wyclef Jean, and though i supposed they are considered Hip Hop, I just really enjoy jamming to them in the afternoons sometimes - puts me in a mellow party mood, my favorite! Wyclef Jean was a former member of the trio: Fugees, and has recently been involved in several charities and humanitarian organizations - most recently in January 2007, when Jean became a roving ambassador for Haiti, to help improve its image abroad, and also with the creation of the foundation "Yele Haiti" to provide humanitarian...
